CHANGE

Hi friends, this is a speech I wrote few days back for an occasion, hope it may interest some of you..

I would like to talk about a phenomenon which affects everyone equally: men or women, bird or animal, big or small, good or bad, living thing or non-living thing.

Friends, I would like to talk about change today. Change is the law of the nature. Change is imminent. Change is permanent.

I would like to start with one of the most visible manifestations of change--US President, Barrack Hussein Obama. He has, in a remarkably revolutionary way, become the most popular man on earth. Suddenly a chai-walla in Mumbai, to a cobbler in Somalia, to a fisherman in Bahamas, to a sledge-rider in Antarctica, have discovered that they possess an opinion about him. Never before has the result of an election been declared so overtly, way before the election has been held. Never before has the world seemed so unanimous for one man. Never before has the election of one country been contested at an international scale.

The ascent of Obama symbolises the changing realities, aspirations and expectations of the world. That people stand for peace, humility and harmony. It symbolises that people are ready to reconcile their differences for a better future. There's a change in the peoples' adaptability to change.

In India, there's a change in the way politics is practised. While on one hand, development has become a parameter to judge performance and a fashionable political agenda, sub-nationalism is rising on the other. Sonia Gandhi, from a dead-wood figure, takes a leap into the world's power list. And Narendra Modi, from a mass murderer, suddenly becomes an icon of development.

If there has been an increase in efficiency, accountability and transparency in the functioning of most of the departments; instances of mal feasance, authority abuses and corruption have also acquired greater proportions.

If the private corporations' rate of growth impels the person to work 24x7, recession provides an undesired over-extended break. If India Inc. is winning accolades worldwide, there's also a Manikchand and Satyam saga attached to it.

For every shooting medal in Olympics, there is a doping charge in wrestling. A T-20 World Cup is followed by a Harbhajan-Sreesanth controversy.

When change infects movie industry, Chak De inspires the Indian Hockey Team to win Asian Cup; Mumbai's Slumdog with a foreign tadka becomes a millionaire at Golden Globe; and our purely Indian Taare, come crashing down to Zameen Par.

24x7 news channels have strengthened the fourth pillar of democracy, but it also brings with it motivated sting operations, irresponsible reporting and 'yellow journalism', eroding their credibility in citizens' eyes.

There is also a change in the way terror strikes us, and also in the way it is handled or mishandled.

Change, my friends is neither good nor bad. For both 'good' and 'bad' are changed situations/characteristics as compared to their previous situations/characteristics. Change is as neutral as God.

So it is upto you my friends to decide whether you want to change for good or for bad. It is for you to decide whether you want to resist the change, you want to change with change, or you want to change the change.

Ladies and gentlemen, i would request you to stand up and manipulate, manouvere and channelise the change not only to our advantage, but also to the advantage of all the living and non-living beings of this world, who affect us or are affected by us. And moreover, I would like you to not just change the change, but 'Be the Change'!

The First Entry

Hi all, this is my first time towards this medium.
I hope my blog will help me express my views, opinions and emotions, freely and constructively. And in the process i will be able to learn from your comments, criticisms and suggestions, and evolve as a better human being.
I beg to be excused for any errors.
As time goes by, there shall hopefully be a more refined presentation.
I need your love, blessings and constant support in this endeavour of mine.
